More About Lisa Stern
With more than 25 years of experience as a lawyer, Lisa K. Stern brings a depth of legal experience, strategic judgment, and practical insight to her family-law practice. She understands that family law matters are about more than legal rights and obligations; they often involve deeply personal decisions affecting children, finances, relationships, and the future. Lisa approaches each matter with a thoughtful, practical, and client-focused perspective.
Called to the Ontario Bar in 2001, Lisa holds degrees in both Civil Law and Common Law, having earned her LL.B. from the Université de Sherbrooke and her J.D. from Queen’s University.
Lisa’s approach begins with listening carefully and understanding the bigger picture. She takes the time to identify what matters most to each client, explain their options clearly, assess the risks and opportunities, and develop a strategy that is both legally sound and practical. Her goal is to ensure that clients understand not only what the law says, but what it means for their lives, their families, and their future.
Lisa is particularly committed to helping clients resolve family law disputes in a constructive and sustainable way. Through negotiation and collaborative family law, she assists clients who want to reach agreements outside of court while maintaining control over the decisions that will shape their families’ futures. For clients who require litigation, Lisa brings the same careful preparation, strategic thinking, and determination to the courtroom. She recognizes that every family is different and that the right legal strategy depends on the circumstances of the individual client.
Lisa is also proficient in providing family law services in French for non litigated matters, allowing French speaking clients to receive advice and assistance in their preferred language in appropriate negotiated, collaborative, and other non court proceedings.
Lisa’s perspective is shaped not only by her decades of legal experience, but also by her experience of family life. As a mother and stepmother of five, she understands firsthand the complexities that can arise within families and the importance of considering the long-term impact of legal decisions. This perspective informs the way she advises clients, particularly when children are involved, and encourages her to consider what will be workable for a family in the months and years ahead.
Clients value Lisa for her straightforward advice, thoughtful approach, preparedness, and ability to bring clarity to complicated situations. She believes that clients deserve a lawyer who will listen, tell them the truth about their legal position, explain their choices, and provide a clear strategy for moving forward.
Whether the appropriate path is negotiation, collaboration, or litigation, Lisa brings experience, perspective, and practical judgment to the table. Her goal is not simply to resolve a legal dispute, but to help clients move through a difficult chapter with clarity, confidence, dignity, and a meaningful path forward.
