Melissa Fedsin is a seasoned family law lawyer with more than 15 years of experience representing clients exclusively in family law matters. During a decade-long tenure at a prominent family law boutique firm, Melissa developed extensive experience in sophisticated financial disputes, complicated parenting matters, and the negotiation and litigation of a broad range of family law issues.
A native of the Halton Region, Melissa brings a practical and strategic approach to every matter. Understanding that family law disputes can have significant financial, emotional, and long-term consequences, she works closely with her clients to develop effective strategies tailored to their individual circumstances and goals.
Melissa regularly appears before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice across Ontario. She also represents clients in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She focuses on resolving challenges efficiently and effectively where possible, while remaining prepared to advocate strongly when necessary.
Melissa is appointed as a Dispute Resolution Officer in the Central West and Central South regions of the Superior Court of Justice, where she assists in resolving family law disputes. She is also a qualified Voice of the Child Report practitioner, providing specialized insight in matters where understanding and appropriately considering the views and preferences of children is an important part of the process.
Melissa earned her B.A. (Honours) and M.A. from the University of Toronto and her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 2010. During law school, she completed an intensive clinical program in mediation and served as duty counsel with the Osgoode Legal Aid Clinic. After beginning her legal career in downtown Toronto, Melissa returned to Halton to build her family law practice.
Melissa is deeply committed to her community and to leadership within the legal profession. She has served as President of the Halton County Law Association, as an executive member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Ontario Bar Association, and as an executive member of the Sopinka United Way Legal Luncheon. She has also been involved with local organizations such as the Oakville Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Oakville BIA.
