The O.A.P. 1 is a standard policy of insurance issued in respect of automobile insurance in Ontario. There have been a number of different versions of the policy issued over the last few years and the policy will have to be amended once again with the changes anticipated September 1, 2010. This paper will provide a brief overview of the statutory basis for the policy and its contents. A few tips will then be offered to Plaintiff’s counsel to ensure that all insurance policies that may respond to a loss are identified early on in the litigation.
